session information

Whether you’re doing a maternity, family, or newborn session, here’s what you can expect to make the experience smooth and enjoyable
Welcome! Whether you’re expecting a new addition, celebrating a growing family, or
capturing those early newborn days, I’m here to help you preserve memories that will last a lifetime. Below you'll find all the information you need for booking a Newborn, Family, or Maternity session.
Newborn Photography Sessions
The first few days of your baby’s life are full of wonder, and a posed newborn session is a
beautiful way to preserve those early moments. In these sessions, we focus on capturing the delicate details of your newborn, such as tiny fingers, little toes, and peaceful, sleepy poses.
What to Expect
Newborn posed sessions are all about capturing your baby’s natural beauty through carefully planned and safe posing techniques. I will work with your baby to create peaceful, timeless images in a calm and relaxed environment. Sessions typically last 2-4 hours to allow for plenty of time to adjust poses, feed, and comfort your baby.
When to Book
Booking in advance is strongly recommended as I only take a few bookings per month. The best time for newborn photos is within the first 14 days, when
your baby is still very sleepy and flexible. If your baby is older, don’t worry — we can
still capture stunning portraits!
Safety First
Your baby’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I’ve completed
newborn safety training to ensure every pose and setup is done with the utmost care
and attention to detail.
On the day
We’ll take our time — newborn sessions typically last 2-4 hours. Be sure
to bring diapers, wipes, any comfort items for your baby, and a few outfits for family
shots. For family photos, I suggest soft, neutral colours (light greys, whites, soft
pastels, or earth tones). Avoid bold patterns or logos, as they can be distracting in
the image.
Lifestyle Newborn Session (In-Home)
If you prefer a more relaxed approach to your newborn session, I also offer Lifestyle
Newborn Sessions in the comfort of your own home. These sessions focus on capturing the natural interactions between your family members and your newborn in a cozy, real-life setting. The goal is to tell the story of your first days at home, with an emphasis on
connection, love, and the joy of your new arrival.
What to Expect
Lifestyle sessions are typically shorter and more relaxed than posed sessions, and they
allow for more spontaneous moments. I’ll capture your family interacting naturally with your newborn, in a beautiful, candid way. You can expect some gentle direction on how to position yourself, but the focus will be on capturing the real moments and emotions that unfold as you bond with your baby.
When to Book
Lifestyle newborn sessions can take place any time within the first
few months, but I recommend booking in advance to secure your spot.
On the day
Lifestyle sessions typically last 1-2 hours, depending on how much time
we spend moving around the house and capturing different moments. We’ll capture a
mix of candid moments as you and your family interact naturally with your newborn.
This could be anything from feeding your baby, playing with siblings, or quiet
moments of bonding. I’ll guide you with light direction for positioning, but the goal is
to make everything feel effortless and natural. For family photos, I suggest soft,
neutral colours (light greys, whites, soft pastels, or earth tones). Avoid bold patterns
or logos, as they can be distracting.
Relax and Enjoy! This is a laid-back, documentary-style session. The focus is on
capturing real moments — so feel free to just enjoy time with your baby and let me
do the rest!
Family Photography Sessions
Family is everything. Whether it's a quiet moment at home or a fun outing at the park, family sessions are about capturing the essence of who you are together. These sessions allow me to document the love, joy, and connection between you and your loved ones in a relaxed, natural setting.
What to Expect
Family sessions are completely customizable! From outdoor adventures to cozy in-home
sessions, we’ll work together to plan a shoot that suits your family’s unique personality. I
focus on authentic moments — whether it’s playful laughter, quiet cuddles, or just the small, everyday connections that make your family special.
When to Book
I recommend booking at least a few months in advance to ensure
availability. Family sessions can be scheduled at any time of the year, but certain
time of year (like Mothers Day, Fathers Day and before Christmas) may book up
quickly.
On the Day
Family sessions generally last 60-90 minutes. I’ll take my time to ensure
we get a range of different shots, from candid moments to more posed family
portraits.
Clothing: For a timeless look, I recommend coordinating your outfits in soft, neutral
tones (cream, beige, grey, navy, soft pastels, or earthy hues). Avoid overly bold
patterns or logos, which can distract from the connection in the photos. Aim for
comfortable and simple clothing that reflects your family’s style.
Maternity Photography Sessions
Pregnancy is an incredible time in a woman’s life, and maternity photos are a beautiful way to celebrate the anticipation and excitement of welcoming a new baby. Whether you prefer a studio or outdoor session, I’m here to help you feel comfortable and beautiful during this special time.
What to Expect
Maternity sessions typically take place between 28-36 weeks of pregnancy, when your baby bump is beautifully prominent and I’ll guide you through flattering poses that highlight the beauty of your pregnancy
When to Book
I recommend booking your maternity session early in your second
trimester to ensure availability, especially if you have a specific date or location in
mind.
On the Day
Maternity sessions usually last 1-2 hours, depending on the number of
outfit changes and locations. For a timeless look, I suggest wearing soft, flattering
outfits that highlight your bump. Flowing dresses in soft fabrics or simple fitted tops
work beautifully. Neutral colours (cream, blush, pastels, or soft earth tones) tend to
work well for these sessions, but you can also bring a second outfit for variety. Avoid
overly tight or restrictive clothing, as comfort is key.
